The School of Life Sciences has been established with an emphasis on interdisciplinary teaching and research in modern biology.
The School consists of four Departments:
Each of the three departments offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes of study. Under Distance Education Programme, the School is participating in two P.G. Diplomas: one in "Environmental Management" and the other in "Medicinal Botany".
Centre for Advanced Studies Status: The University Grants Commission has upgraded Phase III of UGC-Special Assistance, DSA programme (period 2002-2007) and sanctioned the status of Centre for Advanced Studies (UGC-SAP-CAS-I) in School of Life Sciences for a period of five years (2008-2013) with a financial outlay of Rs.128,00,000/-.
