Universities with Potential of Excellence (UPE)

In December 2001, the University Grants Commission identified the University of Hyderabad (UH) as one of the universities under Universities with Potential for Excellence (UPE) scheme. Universities with Potential for Excellence (UPE) scheme under Phase-1 has been implemented from 2002-2003 with an outlay of 30 crores for promoting teaching and research in Interface research studies through holistic development of the University in augmentation of infrastructure and introduction of programs in Interface Studies.

University Grants Commission has further expanded support to the tune of 25 crores under Phase-2 from year 2011-2012 in focused areas of Interface Studies for promoting teaching, research, scientific collaborations.  Holistic development of the University will be undertaken in providing infrastructure and clean environment.
