Overview of The World Bank and Its Role in Promoting Inclusive Development::
By Sarwat Hussain, International Development Consultant, Agriculture Global Practice of World Bank:: The World Bank and International Monetary Fund, collectively known as the Bretton Woods institutions, were set up 75 years ago in the aftermath of WW2 to stabilize economies, jump start economic growth and promote economic development. This narrated PowerPoint presentation by a 25-year veteran of the Bank will trace its origins, describe its structure and governance, discuss its evolving role, and demonstrate why its financing, development approach, technical knowledge and partnerships remain essential to end poverty in our lifetime, boost shared prosperity and help achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Rather than a show & tell, the presentation takes a long-term view of broad-based, inclusive development, leaving ample time for student and audience interaction and Q&A.
